Man arrested after €1.8 million worth of cannabis seized in Co Louth

The man, aged in his 50s, was detained as part of the intelligence-led operation.

A MAN IN his 50s has been arrested after approximately €1.8 million worth of herbal cannabis was seized in Co Louth.

Around 90kg of herbal cannabis was seized during the operation.

It was carried out by Revenue’s Customs Service in collaboration with the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Louth Divisional Drugs Unit.

The arrested man is currently being held at a Garda station in County Louth.

“The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis,” a Garda spokesperson stated, adding that investigations are ongoing.
